HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Run to the Lockbox
EE dues are due by January 1st. If your
check is still sitting on your desk, you can drop it in the
locked box behind the kitchen counter at the Ramada. Phew!
Cure for the Post-Holiday Blues
Like a good party? Wondering what you can look forward to
after you celebrate New Year's Eve? Our Hospitality Committee's
new year's resolution is to make 2019 the best social year
ever. They'll start with a first-time event -- dinner & a
movie, scheduled for Wednesday, January 16. On the menu will be
soup (perfect for a chilly evening), salad and dessert. We'll
let you know soon what the movie will be.
EE Gardeners
The next Gardeners meeting will be January 16 at 9:30 AM at the
Ramada. We will be cleaning up the EE trail between Portillo and
Holgado starting at the Ramada. Everyone is welcome. Expect
about 2 hours of work. Bring gloves and a rake if you have one.
We will discuss plant needs for 2019 so bring your ideas. It
will be a good time for some fresh air, exercise and to meet
friends.
2019 Ramada Sale
Decluttering is a new year's resolution that's easy to keep
thanks to EE's Enhancement Committee. The annual Ramada Sale
on March 2 is the perfect way to rid your home of unwanted
items. You can drop off donated items at the shed next to the
pickleball courts any Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Pick-ups
for heavier items will be available after January 5th by
calling Patty Tracy at 520-444-4472. The committee will not
accept mattresses, hide-a-beds, clothing, paints or chemicals.
The electronics policy has changed. Only working laptop
computers and working printers with ink cartridges will be
accepted. No other electronics -- TVs, cables, etc. -- will be
accepted. If you have a non-working computer, you can take it to
Best Buy for recycling. Donations of electronics will only be
accepted at the shed.
Book Discussion Group
The next meeting of the book group is Tuesday, January 8, at
1:00 PM in the Ramada. The group will discuss A Man Called
Ove by Fredrik Backman. New members are always welcome.
Trail Maps
There's a wonderful walking trail that winds through Esperanza
Estates. If you'd like to walk it, but aren't sure where it is,
you can print out a copy of the trail map by clicking
here.
Signature on Your Ballot Envelope?
Don't forget to add your signature to the Signature line
on the back of your ballot envelope. Ballots without signatures
will not be counted. Your vote is important.
In Memoriam
Our condolences to the family and friends of Bob Maldonado (Circulo
del Norte) who passed away last week.
Helpful Hints for HOA Happiness
The Board is aware that not everyone reads and understands EE's
CC&Rs and Rules, so they have asked the Monday Morning Memo to
include reminders of issues that often occur, disrupting the
peace and harmony of our community. We are paraphrasing and
abbreviating the CC&Rs and Rules, so if an item applies to you,
read the full applicable section of the CC&Rs or Rules or call a
Board member for clarification. Here's this week's hint: Living
in a quad has an upside and a downside. The HOA takes care of
your driveway and the common areas outside your wall. But, you
can't make any landscaping changes outside your wall without
the permission of the HOA. Why? According to
Common Area Maintenance Director Dean Hess, the HOA is concerned
that if you add plants in a common area (and even if you promise
to take care of them), but you later move away, the HOA will be
responsible for maintaining those plants.
